A Row of Three Stones (Alignment) in Co. Cork

A stone row officially recorded as monument number CO082-056----

On level patch of ground, in rolling pasture. Row of three stones, aligned NE-SW, 7.4m in overall length. NE stone is 1.1m L, 0.35m T and 2.05m H. Next stone, 1.85m to SW, is 1.1m L, 0.85m T and 1.65m H. SW and tallest stone is 1.5m L, 0.65m T and 2.1m H. (O Nualláin 1988, 234, no. 29)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).

The location of this site as currently shown on the MP map is slightly incorrect. The stone row is in the adjoining field to the east of the location currently shown. Co-ordinates are 51.840725, -8.979892.

The site is on high ground and overlooks the Lee valley with extensive views to the North. One the south western edge of each stone are a variety of small cup marks and scribings.

A 1.75m standing stone is located in the same field approx 30m to the NE.
