SandyG visited on 3rd Dec 2016 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 3 Access: 4 Limited roadside car parking is available at NO 27022 56470. From here enter the forestry plantation to the north and follow the heavilly rutted track eastward and then northward. Once you arrive in the clearing at NO 27345 56470 head due east and the standing stone will soon become visible.

golux visited on 31st Oct 2010 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 4 Access: 3 Fine views to the south from here, it's well worth the scramble up the hill from the roadside. From the roadside (B951), follow the fence that separates the woodland from the farmer's field, keeping on the left (woodland) side of the fence - and BEWARE the fence is electrified, it was live when I visited. You will find yourself walking between two fences which lead you to the stones; you have to cross one last fence but it is sagging and poses no problem. When the farmer saw me he immediately came over to warn me of the electric fence; in the course of a very friendly chat he pointed out the locations of ancient settlements in a dip below Strone Hill, which loomed over our hilltop from the east. I was surprised to find modern markings on one of the stones - see my photo.

Also looking towards the standing stone at Blackdykes, while behind us lies the standing stone at Knowehead of Auldallan. Anyone know what this modern addition means? It looks to me like D P A P or D P A J and it is quite bizarre.
