This is a very nice example of a single round burial mound (one among many) from the flat landscape of Ørlandet. It is very close to a country road, almost touching the south edge of the mound. It is about 20 metres across and about 1,5 metre tall. A crater from a previous excavation is visible in the mounds side.
The name of the place, Hovde is interesting in itself, since "hov" is the pagan word for a place for worship in old pagan times. Today we have many places in Norway with this name. Suggesting they were places of cultural activities from the iron age.
The mound is a part of a private garden and have been kept from overgrowing with trees or smaller vegetation. It is easy to see and to photograph.
