The cairn was discovered in Albaxen, a suburb of Höxter (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) in 2000. It dates from the early Bronze Age (ca. 1800 – 1200 BC). The cairn contained an inhumation burial.

The skeleton was found in a flexed position, reminiscent of a sleeping pose. The head was oriented to the south.
Because no grave goods were found, it is assumed, that the cairn was enough to indicate the high social position of the buried man.

Today, nothing can be seen at the original site anymore (see coordinates at the top of the page). The opened cairn and the flexed skeleton are displayed in the LWL-Museum für Archäologie in Herne.
