Sieben Berge Stühren
Sieben Berge Stühren submitted by CharcoalBurner89 : The last one of the former seven tumuli of Stühren. October 18, 2021 (Vote or comment on this photo)
The Sieben Berge ("Seven Hills") is a barrow cemetery in Bassum-Stühren (Lower Saxony/Germany). It was used from the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age.

Today, only one of the barrows is relatively well preserved. It is 2 m high and 23 m broad. The archaeologists could detect at least 45 more round barrows, which had become flat because of agricultural activity (0.2 - 0.9 m high). Still, they could investgate that these mounds were 12 - 20 m broad and must have been 2 m high.
The finds made in these barrows indicate that they were mostly built in the late Neolithic by the Corded Ware culture and that secondary burials were placed in the mounds during the early Bronze Age.

Finds from the cemetery can be seen in the Kreismuseum Syke.

Condition "3" refers to the big and best preserved round barrow (see coordinates). The rest of the barrows of the cemetery is less well preserved.
