The area of today`s city of Siegen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) was the site of several ironworks of the La Tène culture. This region was most likely the most important area of the iron industry during the Iron Age in Westphalia.
Several sites with ironworks have been discovered:
Siegen-Achenbach, Engsbach
Siegen Niederschelden, Gerhardsseifen
Siegen-Niederschelden, Wartestraße
Siegen-Oberschelde, Trüllesseifen
Siegen-Trupach
Siegen-Winchenbach, Minnerbach
The replica of two melting furnaces from the La Tène period are displayed near the Gosenbach well (see coordinates at the top of the page).
