Round Barrow(s) in Vest-Agder
At Mevollen and easily visible from the highway are two large Iron Age round barrows. They are locally called "Kongehaugen" and "Dronninghaugen" (King's barrow and queen's barrow). The largest, Kongehaugen is just next to the highway. The other barrow is a little further down from the highway but also easily visible.
The King's barrow is 20 metres in diameter and 2,5 metres in height. It is covered only with grass and is easily visible. It has a very nice rounded shape. The highway have cut off 2 metres of the original diameter of 22 metres.
Around 30 metres north down a small slope is the other barrow called "Dronninghaugen". It is 18 metres in diameter and 2,5 metres in height. It is really not a barrow but a cairn and some stones are visible on the top. It has a small crater on top and one small tree growing on it but is still easily visible.
