Geoglyph in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia. The figure was found in 2011 through the examination of satellite images of the region. The figure located on the south slope of Zyuratkul ridge depicts an elk, and measures approximately 218 by 195 m. It was made with lines 2 to 4 metres wide so that it could be seen from the ridge.
Preliminary excavations performed in 2011 revealed that lines of the figure was reveted with stones on a layer of clay.
More than 120 stone tools were found during further excavations of 2012 and 2013. The geoglyph is dated to 3800-3500 BC and for now is the only object of this kind discovered in Russia.
The hill figure is only visible in late spring or early autumn.
Note: Dig shows that the entire community, including children built this geoglyph in Russia. See the comments on our page for more.
