Ancient Village or Settlement in Rogaland

The settlement remains at Fodnabegheiå is believed to be from around 300-350AD in the age of migration based on other settlement sites in Rogaland. It consists of 3 housing remains, 5 burial cairns, around 40 clearing cairns and the remains of a stone fence.

The housing remains are visible as low long hills of stone, around 1,5 metres wide and from 0,4 to 1 metre in height with depressions in the middle. The largest housing is 30 metres long and around 8 metres wide and have been parted in two rooms. The second housing is 22 metres long and 7 metres wide and the smallest is 15 metres in length. A modern stone fence divides the site and the smallest house is on the outside of the enclosure.

Three of the burial cairns are around 10 metres in diameter and around 1,5 metres in height and covered with very short grass, making them very easy to see. The modern stone fence runs over one of the cairns. The smaller cairns are around 6 metres in diameter.

The site have been marked with footpaths and information posters.
