Ancient Village or Settlement in South Eastern Turkey. Very early Pre Pottery Neolithic settlement dating to about 10,200 to 9,200 BCE. The site is pre-agricultural, but the people were sedentary. There were early traces of the domestication of pigs. Sedentism here may have developed without the intensive use of cereal crops, as elsewhere.
Discovered and excavated by international team lead by Michael Rosenberg of University of Delaware, Richard Redding of University Michigan and Mark Nesbitt of University College, London in 1994.
Flooded due to Batman Dam on Tigris River.
