Ancient Village or Settlement in Syria

The ancient city of Emar was trading town on the Euphrates and was mentioned in the Ebla Archives around the middle of the 3rd millennium BCE. The site consists of a Late Bronze Age city and a new foundation in Hittite times on the shore of what is now Lake Nasser. The University of Tübingen excavations since 1996 revealed the remnants of the Middle Bronze Age city in the Upper Town and Early Bronze Age structures underneath the Temple of Ba'al. The older city in the floodplain of the Euphrates is now under Lake Assad. Emar died out in the 12th century BCE.

Hi

Thank you for your nice site. However, Emar / Barbalissos / Balis
is in a bad place. You placed it on a wrong penisula at Lake Asad. In reality it's more to the south-east. It's easy to find. Please correct it :) [Corrected]

Bye
