Ancient Village or Settlement in Syria
Ancient town first settled by the Nabateans (of Petra Jordan fame) and then taken over by the Romans.
The entire town is built out of black Basaltic rock.
There is a large theatre, later turned into a fort by the Moslems, very large reservoirs, baths, an Agora and several gates, as well as churches from the early christian era.
