Kaunos
Kaunos submitted by davidmorgan : An unknown building, possibly a fountain or a ritual bathing pool, viewed from a temple. The sea used to come up to the lake, where there is a harbour, but it is now behind the hill. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Ancient Village or Settlement in Turkey

A Carian city and seaport from the 7th century BCE, possibly on a much older site. It was variously controlled by the Greeks (as a member of the Delian League, 478), the Persians (with Hecatomnos, Mausolus' father, as governor, 387), then Alexander and finally, in 129 BCE it became part of the Roman Province of Asia.

There is a well-preserved theatre.

Kaunos submitted by davidmorgan : This Carian city carved tombs in the Lycian style. The boat trip to the ruins is cool.
