Ancient settlement in Romania
The exact location of the ancient Dacian settlement of Ziridava is still debated today. Some sources identify it with the location indicated here.
On site, archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a large settlement completely burnt sometime after the Roman conquest. It should be mentioned that the area is just outside of the Roman Dacia province.
Nowadays, all what is left is situated on a small hill, easily identifiable to the left of the road and close to the Mures river. On site pottery and numerous skeletons can be seen but no actual walls, etc. Everything was buried by researchers after their excavations.
