Boeddel visited on 18th Feb 2022 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 3 After consultation with the office and the information that this stone is not yet registered, I was all the more pleased to have discovered it. As always, I'm on the hunt for yet unknown cup-marked stones and to have found one of the somewhat rarer furrow stones was just wonderful.
I discovered this Rillenstein that has not yet been registered by the Landesamt für Kultur und Denkmalpflege (State Office for Culture and Monument Preservation) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Only one side of the stone protrudes from the ground and on it is a more than 1 m long groove/furrow.
The stone lies at the foot of the remains of a Slavic rampart. Burgwall Nieden
The groove is difficult to date, since preparing from stonecutters cannot be completely ruled out, but if it's a prehistoric stone, it is most likely not the original location of the stone.
