When excavated in 1919 it was found that a Bronze Age barrow had been built on the site covering the neolithic burial chamber. The passage produced axes, amber beads, flint blades and some Middle Neolithic pot sherds and some Late Neolithic material together with fragments of burnt human bone. Inside the chamber similar burnt fragments of human bone and some amber beads were found. Outside the passageway 60 flint blades and a flint axe had been deposited whilst a large number of pot sherds were found. In Sweden these pot sherds are considered to be offerings left at the passage entrance rather than the contents of the chamber being swept clear by later users of the tomb.
The tomb was further excavated and restored in 1966 when more pot sherds and burnt bone were found outside the passage entrance.
The passage grave is located behind a farm house where I met the very friendly owner and his grandson, they taking me into the chamber and then afterwards showing me the excavation reports and documents which they kept at their farm house. The farmhouse and lane to the west of it is opposite the side lane running down to Ellbo on the Löddeköpinge to Kävlinge road. There is a larger Bronze Age barrow 200 metres to the north east of this site.
The finds from the excavations are in the Lunds Universitets Historiska Museum in Lund. I used the Swedish Terrängkarten 1:50 000 map number 504 Landskrona to locate the site which I visited in September 2009, and gleaned the above information from the farmer and by reference to the excellent guide to this region: "The Dolmens and Passage Graves of Sweden An Introduction and Guide" by C Tilley, Institute of Archaeology University of London, London, 1999
