A Hellenised Elymian city dating from around the 7th century BCE.
Started in about 430 BCE, the Doric temple, measuring 23m by 58m was never finished and it is uncertain to which deity it would have been dedicated to. The proportions are very elegant, but the columns were never fluted and appear quite heavy. The temple, an acropolis and a theatre were part of a thriving town which was destroyed by the Carthaginians.
