The hill Gjellberget is very steep against east, and south. A little less steep to the west and north. The hill have a wall on the west and north side with a continuous wall of earth and stones. It has a total length of around 150 metres.
The wall starts on the very steep east side at the north-east part of the hill. It goes to the west in a length of 8 metres. Here is where the footpath enter the hillfort and the wall is broken for around 5 metres. The wall continue for 30 metres to the west. Here is where another footpath enter the hillfort and the wall is again broken. The wall continues for 7 metres where it ends in a steep cliff on the north west side of the hill.
The wall at the north side is 7-10 metres wide and around 1,5-3 metres in height and follows a natural ridge. It is built of both earth and stones of different sizes. It seems undamaged except from some smaller holes and craters in the north side. In the north west there is a marked corner with the wall continuing to the SSE along the west edge of the hill for a length of 90 metres.
The west wall is kind of low and some of it has fallen down the side of the hill. Some places it is flat with the terrain and difficult to see. On the inside the wall is around 50 cm in height, on the outside around 1,5 metres and around 3-5 metres wide. Some parts here the stones have cracked and it believed to be either from frost damage or strong heat and it is a theory the wood palisade that the wall supported was burned.
Furthest to the south the wall ends with two large natural boulders before the wall slightly turns east. It is very difficult to see in this section. It continues east for 10 metres and then turns north-east for 7 metres before turning south east again until it ends at the very steep east side.
The wall is overgrown with moss and smaller vegetation and some spread out fir trees. The inside of the hillfort have numerous rock outcrops.
From a nearby road there it a footpath up to the hillfort. There are information posters both at the road and close to the hillfort itself.
