Hillfort in Østfold
The hillfort is located on a single standing tall hill surrounded by flat terrain that for the most part is argicultural land. The hill falls very steep down in east and west, a little less in the north but still steep and difficult terrain to climb up. To SSW the hill is even less steep and the path into the fort have probably come up this way. Several different walls are found encircling the top of the hill.
At the edge of a cliff in NNW is a clear wall made of medium sized stones, 50cm to 5 metres wide and 20 to 60cm in height partially moss covered. It goes in a East-West direction, bends to the ESE in a total length of 15 metres. 150 metres SSW from the end point in this wall, another wall starts in a direction East-West. Here is also a outer wall that goes in a semi circle to the south and turns westwards. The wall here is less clear and fallen over and moss covered. This wall has a length of 6 metres, 1,5 metres wide and 40-60cm in height. The wall goes diagonally downwards following the edge of the cliff and goes over a large ravine in the rocky hill for 15 metres. Over the raving the wall is clear and very thick. The wall continues after the raving in a flat terrain in the same direction. Here the wall again is less clear and overgrown with moss and small vegetation. It goes in a length of 25 metres and bends then to north west. This wall here is 10 metres in length and around 1,5 metres in height.
The wall then goes diagonally to NNW in a steep WSW hill for 12 metres. Here it is fallen over and looks more like a jumble of stones. The stones here are also scattered down the hill. The wall then ends in a North-South oriented ravine. From the walls end a smaller "arm" from the wall goes East and up a steep hill for 8 metres, clearly marked but overgrown of moss and smaller trees. 2 metres West of the end the wall goes around a rocky outcrop to the SSW and makes a semi circle to the NNW. Here the wall is also fallen over for the most part and overgrown.
250 metres SSW from the opening in the wall and west of the footpath another wall goes up the hill to a rock outcrop in a westward direction for 10 metres. Heavily overgrown with vegetation. The wall then bends sharply to the north for 12 metres and becomes more clear and easier visible. 4 metres east of the bend and on the other side of the path the wall continues in a eastern direction toward the south part. The wall follows some smaller rocky outcrops. The middle part of the wall is more clear, this wall part has a length of 43 metres and is 1,5-2 metres wide and around 1 metre in height.
The hillfort have been made easy for visitors to observe by a parking lot and several informaton posters. From the parking lot there is a footpath up to the fort.
