Barrow Cemetery in Sør-Trøndelag

This barrow cemetery consists of 9 round barrows, one elongated barrow and one standing stone. The entire cemetery is located on a large, almost square shaped hilltop with a more or les flat top. The barrows are located on a line along the highest ridge of the hill while the rest is on a natural flat terrace a little lower on the hill. Only the north side of the hill is covered in forest while the rest of the cemetery is only grass covered, making most of the barrows easy to find.

The standing stone is located on the top of the southernmost barrow. The barrow is around 10 metres in diameter and around 1 metre in height. The standing stone is 2,5 metres in height, 75cm wide and around 30cm thick. The top seems to have been broken off so the stone might have been taller. It is slightly tilting to one side. Next to it someone have put up a picnic table and a information poster.

The largest two barrows, two beautiful round cairns or barrows are located on a north-south line along the hills highest point. The two largest barrows are around 20 metres in diameter and 2-3 metres in height. They have a really nice shape and doesnt seem to be any damage to them. The northernmost barrow is located inside a small forest. There are also 4 smaller barrows located on a line between the two largest barrows. They are 8-12 metres in diameter and 1-1,5 metres in height.

To the east of the ridge with the larger barrows there is another line of four barrows in a small terrace a little further down the hill. The barrows in this section is from 7 to 10 metres in diameter and 0,7 to 1,5 metres in height.
