Stone Circle in Vestfold

I must admit this site was a disappointment. It is one of the oldest stone circles in Norway, but today it is overgrown completely with grass and smaller vegetation, and the only thing visible above ground is a ring shaped mound of earth and grass with a depression in the middle.

The stone setting according to written sources is a ring of small standing stones, around 40cm in height with a metre between them set in a circle. It was excavated and some remains of several cremation burials with the ash located inside urns were found. No grave goods are known to have been found. The material was dated to be from around 500BC.
