Situated near the S shore of Strangford Lough at J 5619 5035, this is a classic example of a dual-court tomb. The cairn is trapezoidal in plan and is orientated NE-SW, with the wider end facing SW. It is revetted with a drystone wall of shale slabs and outside this is a ‘buttress’ of shale and earth. Each court leads into a gallery with four chambers, all of roughly equal size.

Only the two chambers of the NE gallery were empty – instead of burials there was a fire pit and evidence of intense burning. The remains of about 34 people were found in the remaining chambers, comprising men, women and children. Not all the bodies received the same treatment - some bones were partially-burnt, others were fully cremated and some were not burnt at all. The majority of the inhumations were women and children and were of disarticulated bones, occasionally collected into groups – some small long bones, a jaw fragment and a pig’s jaw were placed in the second chamber of the SW gallery. This is clear evidence of either exhumation or excarnation.

As well as the pig’s jaw, other animal bones were present including horse. Sherds of pottery and lithics were found throughout the deposits. The pottery assemblage included round-bottomed, plain and carinated bowls, decorated Goodlands-style sherds and some Carrowkeel Ware.
It was excavated by A.E.P. (Pat) Collins in 1952 and published in 1954.
