Standing Stone (Menhir) in Co. Down
This Standing Stone was erected in the 1930's or 40's as a memorial to Major
Richard Gustavus Heyn owner and Captain of the Ulster Steamship Company.
A piece of roughly shaped granite over 4m high by 1.4 wide and 0.8 thick this is an impressive lump of rock, the location on an eastward promontory (partly pasture) is superb if windy.
This is the stone I was trying to identify when I found this site.
