The monument dates from the 1st century. Enlarged in the second century, it was transformed into an agricultural dwelling in the third century and then demolished in the fourth century.
The Roman thermal rite, borrowed from the Greeks, first includes a passage in a warm room (the tepidarium) where the body is rubbed with an iron blade with a handle. Then we go to the caldarium, a hot room with steam baths for sweating. The route ends with the frigidarium, cold bathroom.
The Thermes du Hogolo are the only Gallo-Roman baths restored and open to the public.
Situation: the thermal baths of Hogolo are on the banks of the river Douron. From Locquirec, take the coastal road towards Saint-Efflam; the baths are indicated on the left of the road, a few hundred meters after crossing the Douron.
