Skallagrimshaugur
Skallagrimshaugur submitted by rahollands : A burial mound rather than a barrow. Its history can be read about in Egils Saga, available to read on the web. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This burial mound can be found right in town of Borgarnes.

The Viking settler Skalla-Grímur Kveldúlfsson (863-930s) is said to be buried here with his grandson Böðvar. Kveldúlfur, father of Skalla-Grímur, died during the crossing to Iceland. When he was buried at sea, the coffin drifted towards the bay of today's Borgarnes, whereupon Skalla-Grímur settled down. When he died of an unknown disease, he was buried in this burial mound with his horse, weapons and tools. A modern relief of Egil bringing his dead son Böðvar to his father's grave for burial is located next to the burial mound.

More information of Skalla-Grímur can be found in his Wikipedia article here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skalla-Skalla-Grímr
Skalla-Grímur is the father of the hero Egill Skallagrímsson from the Egil's saga. The whole saga can be read here (in Icelandic): sagadb.org/egils_saga.en

Skallagrimshaugur
Skallagrimshaugur submitted by rahollands : Official information on the site. I'm not sure it's correct to describe it as a Round Barrow. It's too small and from the wrong period but I wouldn't argue about it. (Vote or comment on this photo)
