Museum in Yorkshire (East)

An exciting local archaeological collection for children and adults alike, housed in an authentic farm building.

Discover the history of your area.
Handle and identify real artefacts.
Explore hands on activities.

Exhibits include a replica of the Wetwang Chariot made for the BBC programme "Meet The Ancestors." This now forms the centre piece of an Iron Age display. Chariot burials are an important feature of the East Yorkshire archaeological landscape and this is explained by a video display showing information on the discovery of the chariot. Visitors can also view the original TV recording.

Visits to the museum are by arrangement at a time to suit you. We can accommodate groups of up to 30 persons, whilst small groups and individuals are always welcomed. School visits can be tailored to meet your needs.

Whilst we do not charge a fixed admission rate we ask for a small donation (£3.00 suggested with a contribution £1.00 extra for "hands on" pottery visits).
