Round Barrow in Hälsingland
The largest grave mound in the Hög area: 29 m in diameter and 5 m high. Excavations performed in 1936 by Arne Modén revealed that it consisted of a stone cairn with two burials covered by three-meter earth layer.
Reprint from the information board:
"THIS MOUND has been excavated and contained a cremation grave of a woman and a male skeleton grave. In the skeleton grave a shield, a knife and a spear were found. This equipment is typical for the second century A.D. The Hög area was the central part of Hälsingland as can be seen by the amount of gravefields. The people lived by farming and stockbreeding. Hunting was also an important occupation".
