Round Barrow(s) in Telemark

The galgeholmen site consists of five small round barrows or cairns. They are located on a hilltop on a small hill overlooking the Skienselva river. The hill is covered with small vegetation and larger trees. The name galgeholmen comes from the medieval ages where is used to be a execution spot for criminals.

The cairns are from 5 to 8 metres in diameter and from 0,5 to 1 metre in height. The largest cairn has a deep crater on top and is also the easiest to see since it is no thick vegetation covering it.
