In 1922 three cists have been discovered in a barrow near Bringsvær North of Grimstad. They have been excavated by Professor Brøgger et al. . Later on they have been relocated to the churchyard of Grimstad church. The largest cist is complete with 4 orthostats and one capstone. Its clear size is 1,9 by 0,5 by 0,5 m. It contained one skeleton. The findings indicated a burial from the viking age. The two other cists are far smaller cists and partly damaged.
