Rock Art in Northumberland
Two rock art panels are recorded by Beckensall. Their original find spots are not recorded, and their current location is unknown.
Holy Island a: This rock is described as being 'art in landscape - boulder' - a large stone fragment with possible prehistoric cup mark decoration on two sides. NADRAP were unable to locate this panel to record it. For basic information see England's Rock Art entries for ERA-753 Holy Island a. The original Beckensall record can be found at Internet Archive: Beckensall 800 Holy Island a.
Holy Island b: A portable, reused stone which Beckensall recorded as having thirty seven cups. Found on the shoreline of Holy Island in 2003, and now in private hands, NADRAP recorded thirty five small, shallow depressions which were irregular in shape. For more information see England's Rock Art entries for ERA-754 Holy Island b. The original Beckensall record can be found at Internet Archive: Beckensall 801 Holy Island b.
