Information are taken from the information board next to the tumulus (see the photo):
Burial mounds from the Bronze Age occur throughout almost the whole of Scania but especially along the west and south coast. They are raised over men and women who were most revered in the society of the time. A concentration of twenty or so sites with burial mounds exists here in the southern part of the Skurup municipality.
The mound is 25 meters in diameter and 5 metre high. The summit is cut into by trench. According to the 18th and 18th century historical maps there were originally two additional mounds immeditately to the southeast of the existing one. The Swedish register of ancient monuments records that parts of a skeleton were found here in 1945 when the area southwest of the mound was being cleared of undergrowth. In addition the following finds were found close to the mound: a thick-necked flint axes, a miniature dagger of flint, three quadrangular thick-necked flint axes, a beaker of thick transparent greenish glass, a black pottery vessel and four other pots one of which was filled with burnt bone.
This mound has not been archaeologically excavated, but exavations of other similiar mounds have shown that the dead were buried in their clothes in a cist of stone or wood. Their grave goods were often jewellery and weapons, usually of bronze, and pottery vessels. The cist was covered by a cairn of stone and over this a mounds was built up of grass sods.
