St Agnes Well, Longham
St Agnes Well, Longham submitted by hamstermoon : Behind the two springs, slightly up the hill, is a pool which, if you stand and watch it in calm weather, very obviously shows itself as being a Blow Well. Large bubbles of (presumably) carbon dioxide make their way up from small depressions in the pool floor and break at the water surface. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Holy Well in Norfolk. Said to be a holy well which pilgrims visited on their way to Walsingham. The well is on private land in just north of Spring Farm in Longham. Access prohibited, 2021.

The Norfolk Heritage Explorer says that it "formerly had [a] brick well head, now replaced by clay bank and pond".

When we visited we found the remains of an iron gate covering a concrete well head. This did have bricks so it could have been the original one reused. Some of the water from this was being piped off in a rather Heath Robinson manner but another spring-point, directly below the concrete construction, was also pouring clear water directly out of the chalky ground. This created a pool which ran off into a streamlet, which then fed into the small brook, flowing past which is the parish boundary between Gressenhall and Longham.

Behind the well head is a body of water which although has been artificially expanded is in fact is a 'blow well'. This has lots of small springs coming up into its base and each lets off some big bubbles of carbon dioxide every so often. From reading around on the subject this pool, which seems to be part of a fairly large spring field including the spring with the well head and the one below it, could actually be the real St Agnes Well.

St Agnes Well, Longham submitted by hamstermoon : A picture showing the spring field and one of the springs surrounded by a brick and concrete well-head (the metal sheets over it are presumably to keep the water clean!). The Heath Robinson type set-up (including an old pig bucket!) effectively siphons off some of the water to move it elsewhere although we were not sure where it went. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Just a thought: you can see Holly Farm on the map. [So, Holy Farm - not the tree necessarily, see below.] But are you aware that the tiny square above the 'y' of Holly is HOLLYACRE LODGE? Holy Acre. Almost certainly pre-Christian. I note that you seem far from certain that the well at Spring Farm is 'the one'. May I suggest that a stronger candidate is whatever well might be at Hollyacre. Hollyacre cannot be found on the old O.S. maps, or on Google, but try this link:
