I have visited· I would like to visit

willowman1 visited on 1st Jan 1977 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 4 Access: 4 Mound easy to see from roadside back then. Now overgrown and impossible to see unless you trespass on private land.

Vikings Mound
Vikings Mound submitted by willowman1 : Also once known as the Bubberies and Quidenham Mount, this mound is said in local legend to mark a battlefield and/or be one of the many resting places of Boudicca, "with all her jewels". In fact it's almost certainly the motte of a small 12th century castle, built to guard the nearby ford of the river Wittle. Nowadays, it's much more overgrown and hard to see than it was when I visited and photog... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Artificial Mound in Norfolk

"An imposing mound with surrounding ditch situated on a sloping spur, overlooking a river crossing, and now covered with undergrowth and trees, including an oak in excess of 300 years old. The mound has a maximum overall diameter of 20.0m and a height, above the ditch bottom, of 3.3m."
