Hillfort in Wielkopolskie. The early medieval grodzisko in Stary Białcz is located 2 km NW from the village. It’s well preserved circular ramparts were surrounded with a ditch, traces of which are still visible in eastern part of the site. The dendrochronological analysis allowed to date this grodzisko for 10th century AD.

Few years ago the monument has suffered a terrible damage – someone started to filch earth from the ramparts, causing irreversible destruction of SE and western sector of the fort. Condition of the damaged rampart is getting worse (see the comment).

Grodzisko Stary Białcz under threat by SolarMegalith on Saturday, 28 May 2011
(User Info | Send a Message)
Grodzisko near Stary Białcz has suffered damage caused by unknown culprits, who systematically filched earth from it’s ramparts, destroying about 1/6 of their circumference. The first information about this was revealed in 2003, and the case was investigated by the police from Kościan. Unfortunately, since then the damages have not been treated - as a result of that section of the rampart is exposed for erosion and keeps sliding.
