Hillfort in Ukraine

Bilsk Hillfort is a system of ramparts around three neighboring Scythian settlements. The earliest archaeological finds in the area belong to Zrubna (Srubnaya) and Bondarykha cultures, but for most of its history, the territory was inhabited by Scythians (7th to 3rd centuries BC). The total area inside the hillfort is 4400 ha. Some archaeologists identify the Bilsk Hillfort as the city of Gelonus described by Herodotus.
