Cave or Rock Shelter in Ukraine
Verteba Cave is a gypsum cave that was the site of a Cucuteni-Trypillia settlement (approximately 3000 BC). Numerous ceramic vessels and figurines, as well as human remains and tools were found in the cave. It is generally believed that the cave did not serve as a permanent settlement, but rather a shelter or a ritual site. Currently, a part of the Verteba Cave houses an underground museum.
