Today of course there is a city around it, so that it is now situated rue Maria Chapdeleine in the city of Brest Why is it red ? When the crews of the French Navy were allowed to go on shore, they were geographically limited by red poles limiting their "wandering area". Today the district is called "Le pilier Rouge" (Re...
