Stone Fort in Israel. Ein Saharonim is an rest stop on the ancient Spice Route. Ein is the Hebrew word for spring or water source. Saharonim was a caravanseri, (or arabic khan), a resting place on the Spice route. It was built by the Nabatans and was basically a structure where traders could rest and get food and protection. The main reason it was located here was the source of water which is located approximately 100m from the main site.

The main structure is approximately 45 x 45m. It follows the traditional structure of a caravanseri with a courtyard surrounded by rooms.

Stone Roman posts marking the route between Kahn Saharonim to Avdat can be seen near the site.
