A spectacular site, definitely worth a visit. Some rocks have recently fallen, I guess we can't stop people climbing on it or doing anything stupid. It is sad to see such a major site with so little protection - so much effort goes in to protecting Victorian country houses but these 2000 year old castles get little. | 1 | 3 |

You walk across one island which is rough ground but nothing too difficult (we did it with small kids). Then if you want to get to the island dun then there's a second causeway of large boulders to scramble across (we left the kids behind at this point). Getting there wasn't easy but also not as difficult as I'd feared - we managed to get there with a toddler (mostly carried) and 4 y.o. (who mostly walked) and a not very outdoorsy group.

But there's a barbed wire fence which is difficult to get past. I found one end by the bridge was low enough to step over, then there's a steep hill down over rough ground with nettles, followed by a second barbed wire fence but with a wooden bit you can climb over. Clearly a stone circle, with a large recumbent and many stones in a circle around it
All the stones are covered in moss.
There's a lot of small boulders around - lots underfoot within the circle which (I speculate) could be original. Several small boulders c20cm size on the perimeter - could these tiny stones really be original?
