Sacsayhuaman  Hillfort  Peru    Visited  3rd Mar 1997  2      Very intriguing site, hard to imagine what it looked like before the Spanish started to use it as a quarry. Friendly locals around, giving information about it's history. Also some lippy kids standing gang like on the way up from Cusco, with a warning from an elderly lady to take heed for them.

Zeven Bergjes  Round Barrow(s)  Netherlands  Noord-Holland  Visited    3    3  We measured and mapped the burial mounds on the Zuiderheide for an archeology project in secondary school. Good to practice some mathematics, but also to check if further disturbances were made since the last official measurements. These mounds and the ones on the Westerheide were close to school, s...

Dunbeacon  Stone Circle  Ireland (Republic of)  Co. Cork  Visited  1st Feb 1990  3  4  3  It was a bit of a hazy and drizzly morning, which made it slightly uncomfortable to be there initially. It started clearing up while I made some photo's. Atmospheric, nice view on the bay if you climb on the surrounding rocks. I'll look for the B&W negatives and see if they're worth a scan.

Stonehenge.  Stone Circle  England  Wiltshire  Visited  7th Jun 1988  3  2    Back in 1988 it was very busy, one was not allowed to get near the stones. Even getting near the fencing would provoke warnings from the guards. Not a pleasant visit, it felt like being caught in a tourist trap. Which was a shame, because the nearby Avebury stone circle was accessible under ver...

Tiwanaku  Ancient Village or Settlement  Bolivia    Visited  16th Mar 1997  2      Impressive site. Also very touristy. A lot has disappeared, that much came clear. Got sent away watching some stone carvings at the nearby Pumapunka, because the site was under surveillance said the guard. I was allowed to make some drawings of the carvings, but the guards wouldn't allow photogra...
