In the foreground, Merrivale Single Row 3 (see thecaptain's overview plan) at sunset on 21st September, the day before the Autumn Equinox, 2004. In the distance, in the glare of the setting sun, can be seen the two west end stones of the southern row. Two other taller stones on the south side of that southern row are also visible above centre, and to right of pic. ('Thecaptain' has a theory that these, and other taller stones in the rows, align with the menhir at certain times of the year.) T...

Timber support which features in most photos on Portal has now been removed, so the more southerly chamber looks even better.
Delightful location - the walk over the field feels more like a procession, with the chambers looking more impressive all the time.

Another monument restored using bricks and also has a broken capstone. Would have been originally covered with a cairn and entered via a short passage from the north east.

Île Carn cairn submitted by theCaptain on 19th Apr 2014. Ile Carn, central and right hand chamber entrances.
Unfortunately, being close up to the carn and it is difficult to get a good full view of the front face. My attempt to stich several pictures have so far failed using ICE, this is the best I could do, so will have to spend ages manually fixing bits together at some time in the future.
