Kongsgaarden submitted by Harald_Platta on 18th Mar 2020. Kongsgaarden was the fortified residence of King Harald Hardrada (1015-1066). The founding of the residence is widely recognized as the beginning of today`s Norwegian capital Oslo. The death of Hardrada is considered to mark the end of the Viking Age.

Oslo Ship Museum submitted by Thorgrim on 25th Feb 2006. The Oseberg Viking ship was used to bury a Viking Queen in a great mound. Notice the steering oar that gave us our "starboard".
