Carreg-y-Llech submitted by SteCymru14 on 25th Feb 2019. Impressive standing stone - almost as wide as it is tall - imposing itself on its surroundings. The style gave easy access from the road but it was easily seen from my car.

Cors y Gedol

Cors y Gedol submitted by TimPrevett on 24th Sep 2005. This was our last stop of the day, so lighting conditions were deteriorating rapidly. The best way I could get something out of this composite shot was to use a sepia filter. The collapsed chamber here (as so many in the area) is obvious. Fine views out to sea, and up into the mountains.

Carn Fadrun

Carn Fadrun submitted by Postman on 19th Jun 2015. The strongest contender for the bronze age robbed cist, a robbed cist with some cairn material left over, overlaid by the fort wall, sounds like looking for a needle in a haystack... a haystack made of needles. But it's in the right place and I can imagine a cist once being where the green low bushes are now.

Log Text: Perhaps consider Maen Melyn as having been a guide for, say, Bronze Age sailors rounding the point, or returning to the mainland from Bardsey, or crossing from Ireland.

If perhaps there was a haar, as there had been on the previous evening, a cliff top standing stone visible above the mist perhaps, would have been invaluable as a guide (if local knowledge was such that it could be usefully aligned on a hilltop or another stone), for sailors returning to the narrow inlet, wouldn't it. Cf. the guide / marker stones up the west side of the Western Isles.
