COFLEIN reports the site as:
"A univallate, sub-oval enclosure, set on the summit of a mountain spur. It is subdivided by a scarp and ditch with a central entrance. There are remains of subsidiary enclosures, fields or paddocks, to the south-west, covering an area of about100m by 80m. An embanked trackway leads away to the north-west."

This site, high up on a hilltop ridge above Llamhamlach, commands panoramic views along the floodplains of the Usk river. The north-facing chamber of the tomb, with capstone in situ, lies just off-centre in a much denuded oval shaped mound 23.0 metres in length and 15.5 metres wide. Several upright stones outside the chamber may once have delineated a forecourt area suggesting that Ty Illtyd may have been a simple terminal chamber tomb. The...

This is a fine example of a probable prehistoric site having been "taken over" in the early days of Christianity. It stands only a short distance from the south porch of the church and is about 1.75m high.

One of many monuments called ‘White Cairn’ in this area and not to be confused with another White Cairn located only 1.2km to the NW! This particular example is listed as a must see site in the areas Archaeosights leaflet. It can be found in the forest east of Glentrool Village at NX 35257838.
