Cambridge City Henge Complex

Date Added: 31st Oct 2023
Site Type: Henge Country: United States (Great Lakes Midwest)
Visited: Yes

Cambridge City Henge Complex

Cambridge City Henge Complex submitted by stonetracker on 30th Oct 2023. A Google Maps satellite view of the two henges. The southern henge's center is marked with a colored pin.

Log Text: In a late Oct 2023 visit I was unable to spot the henges at either the stated location or in the general vicinity, which is in a cultivated field on private property approximately 200-300 yds north of Goose Heaven Rd near the junction of N. Cambridge Rd. It has either eroded away to the point of no return or I was in a bad viewing spot.

Update: Later, I did find a satellite view of the site from Google Maps that clearly shows both henges (see photos section). So it's likely that they are very low to the ground and can only be seen from above.

Reily Cemetery Mound

Swan Lake Mounds

Date Added: 31st Oct 2023
Site Type: Artificial Mound Country: United States (The South)
Visited: Yes. My rating: Condition 3 Ambience 3 Access 3

Swan Lake Mounds

Swan Lake Mounds submitted by stonetracker on 31st Oct 2023. In contrast to Dr. Little's photo of Mound A, here is the same mound in Oct 2023. The mound itself is covered with vegetation and access to the mound was impossible due to heavy overgrowth surrounding it.

Log Text: Visited in late Oct 2023. The mounds are in the Yazoo National Wildlife Refuge, which is publicly accessible. Access roads in the refuge vary from very rough gravel (eastern side) to some paved (western side). Approaching from Foote village on the western side via the refuge road is probably the least punishing on a vehicle

Rolling Fork Mounds

Site Type: Artificial Mound Country: United States (The South)
Visited: Yes. My rating: Condition 2 Ambience 2

Rolling Fork Mounds

Rolling Fork Mounds submitted by stonetracker on 3rd Nov 2023. Topo contour map of the two extant mounds. Mound A, the taller one, is under the word "Fork" and Mound B is just to the lower left.

Log Text: In late Oct 2023, I attempted to find these mounds by walking west from a car pulloff on Rte 61 and also north from a field road next to two brick silos. I did not attempt to walk in east from Parkway Rd, which as Dr. Little's photos suggest, may provide easier access to Mound B. The entire area was extremely overgrown and nearly impassible, so I abandoned the search.

It may be easier in winter, once the vegetation dies back.
