St Celynin's Well

St Celynin's Well submitted by kelpie on 27th Jun 2004. This well sits in the corner of the churchyard of an isolated little church in a beautfiul part of Wales (SH 7511773696). The well used to be roofed (1622) and the existing walls have been recently rebuilt, the stone benches may also be later additions. The well has a reputation for curing sick children.

St Digain (Llangernyw)

St Digain (Llangernyw) submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. At St Digain's, Llangernyw, there are two ancient cross incised stones on the south side of the building, both crosses fave west. The design on the western stone is near impossible to make out without a guidebook to hand. There are also two rough, unshaped stones which appear out of place amongst the memorials nearby. St Digain's also has a yew reputed to be 4,000 years old, which is worth a look.

St Winefrides Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 26th Nov 2004. Outdoor rectangular bathing pool containing the submerged St Beuno’s Stone which can be seen in the photo nearer to the front of the pool than the steps and hand rail in the rear left corner. The well chamber behind the pool is a fine example of late perpendicular architecture creating an almost square crypt covering the wellhead. Around the well, graceful columns rise to support an elaborate vaulted roof which in turn supports St Winifrede’s Chapel above. Once, steps led from the well up...
