Sachsenwald Alter Hau (1) submitted by holger_rix on 12th Aug 2010. The brontosaurus of Long Barrows in Germany.
Size 154 m x 8,5 m, mound just about 0.70 high.
Orientation WNW - ESE.
The visible kerb stones are small in size, most of them
about 0.50 m - 0.80 m high, and not deep in the ground.
The lack of bigger stones might explain the absence of a
stone burial chamber, a feature that can be seen at about
30 long barrows in the Sachsenwald area. (Some of them even
without kerb stones)
Survived have 80 stones at the north and 85 at th...

Gottrupel Grabhuegelgruppe submitted by holger_rix on 18th Nov 2007. A group of Round Barrows near Flensburg.
The area is called 'Naturerlebnisraum', a nature preserve. I didn't enjoy
it because it was late and a grey as grey can be day.
But this place is well worth a visit, there are two groups of Round Barrows, a Dolmen, and a mighty tumulus further north.

Harkestein submitted by holger_rix on 12th Jun 2008. There are some stories attached.
In short.
One day a young farmer missed one of his cows, a white one. He looked for it inside this forest. There he met the goddess 'Harke'... and fall in love. She explained to him, that he has to die if he wanted to love her. He couldn't resist, but he asked her for a good burial. She promised to bury him so safely, nobody would be able to disturb his peace.
So it happened, and when his friends looked after him, they found this big stone.
Years later...

Lunden Suehnestein submitted by sba_dk on 24th May 2022. Peter Swyns atonement stone was moved here from the murder place in Lehe and set in front of his gravestone. The contrasts in the carvings are stunning: An angel on the lying gravestone, and Our Saviour and the murder scene on the upright atonement stone.

Pferdekrug Suehnestein submitted by sba_dk on 24th May 2022. Except for the year and some words about the misdeed, the text is not readable, but the cross is very distinct, possibly because this part of the stone was covered by earth at the original place.
