Boskednan stone circle
Date Added: 14th Jun 2022
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: England (Cornwall)
Visited: Would like to visit

Boskednan stone circle submitted by JimChampion on 22nd Aug 2005. The portal stones illuminated by the last rays of the setting sun. The tallest one (on the left) has a diagonal groove present on this and the opposite side. The holes that the restored stones were raised from have been covered with pegged down foliage, presumably to encourage regrowth on the bare earth.

Site Type: Passage Grave
Country: France (Ile-de-France:Val-d'Oise (95))
Visited: Would like to visit

Bois Couturier Allée couverte submitted by greywether on 30th Jun 2005. A truly superb site which deserves to be better known. Restored and still sitting in its mound, the exceptional feature is the complete rebated porthole. Better still, the porthole "stopper" survives and is on display at the local museum. To add to the interest, there is "breast and necklace" art on the two outer portals, although now faint. Fantastic!

Bohonagh Circle submitted by Johnny on 21st Jun 2002. Bohonagh Stone Circle, Co. Cork (W308 368):
In an area abundant in stone circles, Bohonagh stands out as a particularly fine example of an axial (sometimes called recumbent) stone circle. The nine remaining stones of an original thirteen are particularly large and impressive. They form a circle 9.9m in diameter with an equinoctial sun-set alignment. Portal stones, 2.5m in height, stand opposite a 1.4m tall flat-topped and squat recumbent stone. Eighteen meters to the east of the circle is a...

Belinac Menhir submitted by MichelDRN on 20th Oct 2005. I suggest to rename Livernon Menhir as Belinac Menhir, its local name.
From Livernon (Lot, 46), heading SE towards the road joining Cahors and Figeac towns, a sign indicates Belinac Menhir on the right side. 600 meters and this outstanding monolith appears.
It is 3.50 meters high, 0.40 m wide, and large from 1.50m (base), to 1.90 m (middle) and 1.00m (top).
