Saint-Uzec menhir
Date Added: 10th Jun 2017
Site Type: Standing Stone (Menhir)
Country: France (Bretagne:Côtes-D'Armor (22))
Visited: Yes on 10th Jun 2017. My rating: Condition 4 Ambience 4 Access 5
Saint-Uzec menhir submitted by TheCaptain on 22nd Apr 2011. Its crowning glory is the way it has been christianised with the addition of a granite cross on top and carvings on its front (southern) face, which show scenes from the bible and the "roughly hewn instruments of passion".
In the past it was also painted. This was all done in 1674, when the nearby chapel was built.

Cailleach na Mointeach Kerbed Cairn
Date Added: 23rd Jun 2017
Site Type: Cairn
Country: Scotland (Isle of Lewis)
Visited: Would like to visit

Cailleach na Mointeach Kerbed Cairn submitted by Aluta on 14th Sep 2006. Cairn on one of the hills that make up the 'knees' of the Old Lady of the Mountains or Sleeping Goddess visible from the Stone Circle at Callanish.
Found by Ian McHardy who says "'S1' is the main cairn which the company Headland Archaeology had called a "shepherds cairn with base" - a bizarre interpretation for a professional outfit to make, especially given the obvious kerb and absolutly useless and labour intensive nature of a 5m by 1m cairn upon a rounded hill top to a shepherd."
