Log Text: Gamle Hestehauge
Barrows, stone ciste, and cup marked stone from the Neolithic and Bronze Age.
In Gamle Hestehauge (Old Horsegarden) several burial mounds are situated. Eight of them are quite well preserved and between two and four meters high. Others have been plowed down so they now are quite flat.
The mounds are not excavated, but it is likely that most are from the Early Bronze Age (1800-1000 BC). Only the most important people in society were buried in the mounds. In Denmark there has been originally 50-60000 mounds from the Bronze Age, today there 10-15000 back.
Hellekiste. Between two of the larger mounds a stone Cist is situated. A tomb of stone from the last period of the Neolithic: Dagger time (2400-2800 BC). The mound over the grave has disappeared. In the chamber lay the remains of skeletons from many funerals. Of grave goods only two flint daggers and a small pendant of slate were found.
Æbleskivestenen. In the Gamle Hestehauge a very beautiful cupmarked stone also is situated. Æbleskivestenen with 83 cup marks. Such cup marks are carved trenches, presumably fertility signs from the Bronze Age. The stone was given protection status in 1875 by the plantation owner Th. Weber. He placed it in a nice garden construct and placed 14 mill stones around it.

Three Grouped Long Barrows
Once three mighty and impressive burial sites were located here. Three long barrows built here side by side in the early Neolithic, between 5000 and 6000 years ago. They served as burial sites of the leaders of the society.
Today we only see the result of millennia of decomposition, trees storm damage, degradation by grazing, and traces after human exploitation of the large stones. Some stones are still in place, others are overturned or removed. Of the mounds only a few remnants remain, they are seen as indistinct level increase in the terrain. One can see how the trees grew slowly has pushed stones aside. A single tree has grown completely together with a stone from a chamber. However, it also is thanks to the forest that there is anything left of the dolmens. Had they been situated in cultivated fields, the risk that they had been removed, is great. Originally, the long barrows had respectively one, three and two chabers. These chambers were built on supporting stones with a large capstone over. A long mound of soil and stones have enclosed the chambers. Finally, the mound was surrounded by a circle of stones. The mounds are probably built in succession, but they easily can have been in use simultaneously. They are not excavated. Of the visible chambers the three are of the same fairly early type. While the fourth was built at a later time.

Log Text: At the top of the small hill or burial mound two destroyed burial chambers are situated.
At the hillside and at the foot more destroyed burial chambers are found.
Several boulders nearby could be downfallen capstones and/or supporting stones.
Here and there chains of stones looks as if they are part of the original kerbstones here.
